What does oprah say about jesus

Jakes at the Potter's House. I don't think there is a better preacher in the country. His ability to interpret scripture is like no other. I also like some of Joel Osteen 's work. I think he's now doing a book about one of my favorite sermons of his, " The Power of 'I Am. Q: President Obama used grace as the theme of the eulogy he gave after the fatal shootings in Charleston, S.

What did you think? A: I felt that it was deeply moving and profound, and of course everybody was like, "Oh, the president can sing! I actually think that the sermon reinforced the very nature of the grace that the victims' families had shown to the world.

But what really moved me was those families and their ability to immediately move themselves into a state of grace by being able to forgive and not holding onto anger, because grace and anger do not match. Q: Some people question whether you can be a Christian and also embrace so-called New Age philosophies. How do you respond to that?

A: My response is that I love the church. I love what the church offers to us as a culture — black people in particular. We would be nowhere without the black church. But for me to live in a world that is not inclusive of other people who are not Christian would be the opposite of Christianity. I can't define "God," so to be open to the mystical and mystery of God is a natural part of myself.

So people criticize me for not being what they are, and I say, it's working for me and has worked for me and continues to work for me, in a way that fills me with a sense of peace and contentment about what God means to me. A: That's a great question. I believe I don't know what the future holds, but I know who holds the future. I know who and what holds the future. I trust that beyond this space and time, all is well, and all will be well.

What is his basic message? The bottom line message from Eckhart Tolle is if you come to a place where you know who you really are and stay in the present moment of now, and by doing that, escape suffering, find peace, joy, fulfillment, purpose, and have a really good life.

This is why it appeals to people. The only problem is when he tells you who you really are. Who you really are is God. That is who you are. It is the New Age movement through and through. In fact, there are a lot of things he says that is fairly insightful and thought provoking. For example, he talks a lot about how in this world, in this day and age, we need to start treating each other better as human beings.

He talks about the need to stay in the present moment and not worry so much about what has gone on in our past — not let the things we have endured and been through hurt us today. All of these things are very consistent with what Scripture says. But he sort of takes these life applications, practical living things and starts blending spirituality with it and that is where he becomes unbiblical.

There is no question. The way he takes the Bible and perverts, twists, and abuses it. He quotes in his book, A New Earth , the Bible more than any other source of spiritual teaching. What he does is he will take a verse from Scripture, particularly the words of Jesus, and re-interprets them in a way that supports what he is trying to say. He basically renders the words meaningless because he takes them out of context.

He just makes it say anything. Jesus was referring to Himself as being the only way to the Father. So, this is how he takes Scripture and just distorts and perverts it. They are looking for what Tolle can give to them so they can escape their suffering, anguish, and pain in life. They can have a better life and be happy.

So, that is what they are going after. Marty says most people feed their dogs diets that go against their animal nature. What carries the most meaning for? Her five dogs: golden retrievers Luke and Layla, cocker spaniel Sadie, and springer spaniels Sunny and Lauren. The article will deal with what Oprah Winfrey believes and teaches: about God, about the Bible, and about eternal salvation?

We will also take a look at the mind altering techniques she prescribes? To begin with, as has been pointed out regarding other issues, it is not what I think on the subject that matters. The purpose of the newsletter and the website is to examine in the light of the Scriptures questions that are raised. What we need to ask is: What does the Bible say that is relevant? First, a bit of background. Oprah Gail Winfrey was born in , and was named after a Bible character in the book of Ruth Orpah, accidentally misspelled.

Ruth and Orpah were sisters-in-law, Moabite women who married Hebrew men. While Ruth left behind her heathen heritage and joined herself to the people of God, Orpah returned to her people and her idols when her husband died Ruth Oprah Winfrey began developing her own unique talk-show style over 20 years ago in Chicago.

Now in her mid-fifties, her talent and drive have made her a billionaire. Not only is she the most successful talk show host in television history, but she has become a media mogul, an actress and film producer, a publisher, a philanthropist, and more.

At its best her daily week-day show has been able to entertain and inform, making people especially women feel good about themselves. At its worst, it is something else again. To consider that, it will be helpful to summarize a few New Age beliefs. As we proceed, you will see that these are the very things Oprah is espousing. This philosophy is based aspects of Eastern mysticism, Hinduism and paganism. It has no authoritative holy book of its own, but makes use of selected passages from the Bible and the books of other religions.

New Agers desire to see world peace and unity built around their New Age religion. They also deny the reality of sin. They say human beings will be reincarnated until they reach oneness with the divine force.

There is no resurrection, no heaven or hell. But her lack of understanding of the Scriptures, and input from others who reject the Bible outright, have led her further and further away from the truth.

And it is deadly. Deadly because it involves gross error. Error that will leave deluded seekers bound in sin and in danger of eternal judgment. And deadly because Miss Winfrey has the skill, the popularity, and the media platform to promote it effectively. Oprah has a huge audience of dedicated followers, prone to take her word as gospel concerning just about anything.

Her show is broadcast in countries, and is seen by millions of viewers each week. Her give-aways make the news. Her Book Club selections instantly turn into best-sellers. TIME Magazine declared her one of the most influential people in the world. So, exactly what religion is she peddling? As Oprah tells it, at about the age of 23 she was sitting in church listening to a message about the greatness and majesty of God.

Since Oprah herself marks this incident as the beginning of her divergence from orthodox Christian teaching, let us start there. It refers to a passionate desire to protect something that is in possible jeopardy.
